Yogis joining my new classes @schloss_roxburghe and Priorwood House, Scotland will have experienced a mantra where we join our voices (or simply listen) at the beginning and end of classes.

Mantra translates from Sanskrit as MAN = mind and TRA = tune. Mantra = tuning the mind. We use mantra as a tool to support our minds to reach a single-focused attention without distraction!

What does it mean?

OM (pronounced A-U-M) is a primal, most elemental vibrational sound of the universe

A - creating sound from the base of the lungs

U - preserving the sound as it rises through the body

M - destroying (finishing) the sound in the head with focus on the third eye/ajna chakra (space between the eyebrows)

SHANTI - we repeat 3 times meaning peace in me, peace in you, peace in the universe...

OM is understood to have high pranic life force energy giving our practice and intentions a higher strength and power!
